“The outgoing board has left behind a significant legacy. It is now your duty to continue and complete that journey. I congratulate you upon attaining this level of leadership. You have now assumed an even greater honor and are recognized as officials serving the Kabaka. We therefore ask you to carry out responsibilities that will bring further prestige to the Kingdom,” he added.

He further urged the board members to understand the key foundations upon which the Kabaka’s leadership is anchored, saying such knowledge would enable them to serve effectively and harmoniously.

“You must understand the three pillars upon which His Majesty the Kabaka’s leadership rests: the Princes and Princesses, the clan leaders and elders of the Buganda clans, and the Kabaka’s ministers. Understanding these structures will help you execute your duties without unnecessary conflicts,” Kaawaase noted.

The Deputy Katikkiro also reminded the new leaders that while challenges are inevitable, they should avoid making excuses, embrace teamwork, and fully appreciate the responsibilities entrusted to them. He called upon them to remain loyal, consult their superiors whenever necessary, and uphold professionalism in the execution of their duties.

The newly appointed Board Chairperson, Engineer Dr. Mulumba, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and pledged to strengthen educational standards at the institution.

“I am extremely delighted by the trust that has been placed in me to lead this board. In line with the Kingdom’s agenda of improving standards, we are committed to enhancing the quality of education at this institution. Together with my colleagues, we shall do everything possible to ensure that children receive the education and opportunities they deserve. We also pledge to complete and build upon all the initiatives that have already been started,” he said.

The Minister for Education, Human Development and the Office of the Nnabagereka, Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko, praised the outgoing board for the progress and standards it established at the institution.

She noted that despite numerous challenges, including disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the board remained committed to maintaining the institution’s growth and quality of service.

“The outgoing board worked tirelessly to ensure that the institution continued to operate effectively despite the challenges brought about by the global pandemic and other obstacles. Their contribution to the development and standards of the institution is commendable,” she said.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the institute and was attended by several dignitaries, including outgoing and incoming board members, teachers, and cultural leaders such as Deus Kyeyune, alongside other invited guests.
